Jailbreak Getting Started Guide
First hour checklist from spawn to your first real cash loop.
Welcome to Roblox Jailbreak. This getting-started guide covers the first hour that decides whether you feel lost or unstoppable: picking a team, escaping as a prisoner, landing a first robbery, cashing out at a criminal base, buying a Camaro, starting season contracts, and learning the keybinds that matter.
If you only came for free rewards, redeem ATM drops on the Codes page first (Police join is fastest), then return here. For a full tutorial map, use the Guides Hub.
Step 1 — Pick your team
At spawn you choose Prisoner or Police.
Prisoner / Criminal path: You begin locked in the Prison. Your goals are escape, rob, cash in, and outrun cops. This is the classic Jailbreak fantasy and the best way to learn the map.
Police path: You spawn free with arrest tools and station vehicles. Cops earn from arrests and bounty collection. Police is also the easiest way to hit ATMs and to fly a helicopter during events like The Hunt.
Tip for absolute beginners: do one Police session to redeem codes and scout Rising City from the air, then rejoin as Prisoner for the real loop.
Step 2 — Escape as a prisoner
You cannot rob while stuck in orange. Learn at least two exits so campers cannot soft-lock you:
- Sewers — open a yard or station hatch, ride the current, climb an exit ladder outside the walls.
- Power box — punch the box near the gun shop / station wall about ten times, then parkour through the opened gate.
- Exploding wall / C4 — trade with Rusty for a chance at C4, plant it on the marked weak wall.
- Keycard routes — pickpocket a cop (hold interact at their back), then use doors, visitors/vents paths, or parking controls.
- Vehicle help — allies in helicopters or rocket-fuel cars can extract you from the yard.
Full breakdowns live in Escape Prison. After a clean escape you receive a starter pistol—do not pick fights with armed cops yet.
Step 3 — First robbery
Keep the first score simple. Rising City favorites for new criminals:
- Donut Shop — small, quick, low heat.
- Jewelry Store — break cases, climb past lasers, exit toward the nearby criminal base.
- Gas / grocery style stores when open — fine for pocket cash.
Avoid Museum until you have a partner, and save Crown Jewel / Power Plant until you know Volcano cash-in. Deep heist steps are in How to Rob.
Step 4 — Cash out at a criminal base
Loot in your bag is not banked until you reach a collector or valid cash-in point.
- Jewelry Store loot can turn in at the Rising City criminal base (closest) or travel to Volcano if cops camp the city base.
- Museum, Power Plant, Crown Jewel, and several train/plane style heists expect Volcano Criminal Base collector turn-ins.
Drive smooth, watch the minimap for red threats, and never AFK with a full bag outside a base ramp. Dying or getting arrested can wipe a run you already earned.
Step 5 — Buy a Camaro
Your first big quality-of-life purchase is usually a Camaro (or another cheap, reliable starter from the garage/dealership flow). Mobility beats a fancy gun you cannot reposition with. A basic car lets you:
- Rotate between open robberies
- Reach Volcano without hitchhiking
- Flee yard campers after the next escape
- Complete driving-related season contracts
Customize later. Tire stickers from Codes are optional flair after the car is owned. Compare stronger endgame options on the Tier List once you have a bankroll.
Step 6 — Season contracts and XP
Open the season board (yard/contract UI) and grab easy daily tasks: short drives, small robberies, arrests (if cop), or “play for X minutes” style goals. Stack contracts with actions you already planned so XP is free.
Season 33 runs on a prehistoric theme with a firm end date—see Season 33 for rewards and timing. Badimo has framed it as the last planned season for a while, so finishing levels now matters more than usual. Money Making explains how contracts, safes, and robbery routes fit together.
Keybinds you need on day one
Defaults on PC:
- WASD — move / drive
- E — interact (ATM, vehicles, pickpocket, robbery props)
- Tab — inventory / tools cycle context
- Space — jump
- Vehicle enter/exit and arrest prompts also use interact
In August 2026 Jailbreak added custom keybinds for desktop and console plus mobile UI editors for button size and position. If E or inventory feels wrong on your keyboard, remap immediately—details in Controls.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Jailbreak players.
Should new Jailbreak players join Police or Prisoner?
Prisoner teaches the core loop. Join Police briefly for ATM codes, scouting, or The Hunt helicopter rescues.
What should I buy first with cash?
A starter car such as the Camaro for rotations and escapes. Weapons can wait until you can reposition safely.
Where do I cash out robbery money?
Jewelry can use Rising City base; many larger heists need the Volcano collector. See How to Rob.
How do season contracts work for beginners?
Grab easy dailies from the season board and complete them while you rob or drive. Track Season 33 details on Season 33.
Can I change Jailbreak keybinds?
Yes. Custom keybinds and mobile UI editors shipped in August 2026—setup steps are in Controls.
Where are working codes listed?
Use the Codes hub for active ATM codes and redeem steps.
